Speech therapist and special needs educator of the highest category, teacher-methodologist

About me

Ekaterina is a speech therapist and special needs educator of the highest category, a teacher-methodologist and a specialist with 23 years of experience. My qualifications have been officially assessed and recognised in the Danish education system. I recently completed an international course organised by the Swedish Institute. The programme was devoted to supporting children with special educational needs.

The age of 4–8 is an especially favourable period for correcting many speech disorders. With timely and systematic speech therapy at this age, remarkable results can be achieved. At an older age correction is also possible, but may take more time and effort. School readiness includes developing speech, the foundations of reading and writing, attention, memory, thinking and motivation to learn. In lessons I find an individual approach to each child, taking into account their age, developmental features and speech needs. I create a friendly atmosphere in which children are comfortable working, developing and reaching their first speech successes.

Areas of work

  • Assessment — evaluating speech and cognitive development, identifying the causes of difficulties and defining an individual programme of lessons.
  • Initiating and developing speech in children with delayed speech development.
  • Speech development and correction — work on pronunciation, phonemic hearing, vocabulary, grammatical structure and coherent speech.
  • Correction of reading and writing difficulties — helping children overcome difficulties in mastering reading and written speech.
  • Developing critical thinking — the ability to analyse and understand information, compare, make connections, ask questions, reason, argue one's point of view and draw independent conclusions.
  • Working with bilingual children — an individual approach that takes into account the child's language experience and the features of bilingual or multilingual development. Work on speech comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, coherent speech and communication.
  • A supportive atmosphere — care for the child's emotional state and conditions in which the child feels confident, is not afraid of mistakes, shows interest in learning and gradually becomes more independent.

«I see not only the difficulty a child comes with, but also their possibilities, strengths and potential for development.»
